Tragic End to Search for Birmingham Child

A body believed to be that of 3-year old Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney was found, police announced Tuesday night. Birmingham police chief Patrick Smith said the remains were recovered from a dumpster. The discovery capped a 10-day search that began after the girl was abducted from a birthday party at the Tom Brown Village public housing project in North Avondale. Two persons of interest in the case, Patrick Stallworth and Derrick Brown, were being charged with capital murder, police said. Birmingham mayor Randall Woodfin expressed grief, and said the entire city was in prayer for the family.
