Hoover Man Accused of Impersonating Officer

A man is charged with impersonating a police officer in Hoover. James Andrew Gray, 27, pulled over a woman after midnight Thursday on Greystone Way, detectives said. But the woman became suspicious and drove off, then called 911. Police say earlier in the evening, they had received a report of someone in a black SUV attempting to pull over drivers on Greystone Way. Police say they caught up with Gray a short time later, sitting in a black GMC Yukon, on Greystone Way. Officers say he was in possession of fake badges, guns, a DEA hat,. and flashing red and blue lights on his dashboard. The motive is under investigation.
