Charges Dismissed in Unborn Baby's Death: Bessemer Cutoff DA

Charges were dropped Wednesday in a Jefferson County case making national headlines. Marshae Jones of Birmingham was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of manslaughter, for a fight that caused the death of her unborn baby. But Bessemer Cutoff District Attorney Lynniece Washington says she will not prosecute. "An unborn child was tragically lost, and family members on both sides of this matter have suffered," Washington said. "Nothing, nothing, nothing we do today, or in the future, will change that reality." The woman who shot Jones was not charged, after the grand jury ruled the shooting a case of self-defense.
