Push back on Hoover Mayor's Tax Increase Plan

Some Hoover City Council members do not want a full one percent sales tax increase...as proposed by Mayor Frank Brocato. He says it will help fill the city's budget shortfall. Some on the city council countering his proposal with a half-percent sales tax hike instead. When added to a proposed increase in lodging taxes in the city, that revenue generated will not be enough to cover all the projects the mayor wants, although it will cover some of the budget deficit. The Hoover City Council will vote on the tax increases next month.
