Trump to Alabama Lawmakers: Preserve IVF

Former President Trump on Friday called on Alabama lawmakers to preserve access to IVF treatments, following a ruling by the state's highest court. "Today, I'm calling on the Alabama Legislature to act quickly to find an immediate solution to preserve the availability of IVF in Alabama," Mr. Trump said at a South Carolina rally. "Like the overwhelming majority of Americans, including the vast majority of Republicans, conservatives, Christians, and pro-life Americans, I strongly support the availablity of IVF for couples that are trying to have a precious, beautful, little baby." Some fertility clinics in Alabama suspended in vitro fertilization treatments, citing concerns about litigation, after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled frozen embryos are children under state law. State lawmakers this week unveiled bills aimed at exempting IVF-fertilized embryos from the court ruling.
