COVID Vaccinations Begin in Alabama

Hospitals across Alabama on Tuesday began administering the much-anticipated Pfizer COVID vaccine. At the Birmingham VA Medical Center, a 94-year old World War II veteran, Lee Creel, was the first to receive an injection. He was followed by a 90-year old Korean War vet, Norman Hale. Both men were Prisoners of War. Creel, who lives in west Jefferson County, said it was an honor to be first in line, and looked forward to getting the shot. Hale, who lives near Cullman, said others needed the vaccination more, but added that he was pleased to receive it. Both men expressed hopes that their fellow veterans would get vaccinated.
