Move over I-22, Alabama could have an even newer Interstate.

Currently Alabama has I-20 which passes through the middle part of the state, and I-10 that passes through the Mobile area connecting Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle.  The newly proposed I-14 would run from Meridian Mississippi through Selma, Montgomery, Phoenix city and finally Columbus Georgia.

Proponents of the newly proposed I-14 say that most of the work has already been paid for and basic infrastructure is already in place in most urban areas.

The road would be part of a system that will link 5 states, running from College Station Texas all the way to Augusta Georgia.

The Youth Infrastructure Coalition state this new interstate is needed, as it will greatly improve economic conditions in some of the poorest parts of the Southeast.
