Palmer Votes Against Massive Spending Bill

A massive spending bill Thursday was approved by the House, but members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus -- including Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) -- voted against the package.   Palmer said he "could not in good conscience" vote for a plan that costs $1.3 trillion dollars.     Palmer hailed the increased military funding in the bill, but said years of deficits have resulted in a $21-trillion national debt.   Palmer said the bill on that debt will eventually come due, "with major consequences for our nation."    The Senate must act by midnight Friday to avoid a government shutdown.
